Welcome back MyXXFam! This week we’re bringing you our Top 20 posts! Sure, we’ve only got 20 to choose from, but that makes it all the better because we don’t have to play favorites. Cop out? Give us a break y’all, we’ve been at it for 20 weeks in a row, we’re only human. Plus, who doesn’t love a bit-sized listicle every once in a while? There may even be a surprise at the end if you stick through it. But first!

A brief MyXXFLY History Lesson.

Hello class! Thanks for joining us at MyXXFLY, whether you’ve read all 20 of our blog posts, or find yourself confused as to how you got here. Let me explain. MyXXFLY is a fashion blog which features thrift-store and small-business friendly items on bodies of all sizes. Why thrifted items? Because I’m a believer that at this stage in humanity, more clothing than all humans would ever need has already been made. One hundred, thousand, maybe a million times over. Textile waste is only second to oil as the most polluting industry on earth, and I want to encourage people to thrift! Now I understand a thrifted wardrobe isn’t for everyone, so we also feature small-business friendly items, because if you must buy something new, why not help out a local business or upstart at the same time? Seriously, chain stores don’t need any more of your money. And finally, why do we feature bodies of all sizes? Because well, look around. We all live and exist and move in bodies that are different and imperfect and beautiful. Fashion, and style should be inclusive, and at MyXXFLY it absolutely is.

MyXXFLY was my (the voice in your head right now is Yesenia’s, pleasure to make your acquaintance) brainchild for many many years. All opinions on this blog are my own. I cite sources when dealing in facts, and though it may sound like I know what I’m talking about, I’m no more adept at life than any of you. I didn’t do shit to get this ball rolling until a few months after my uncle Oscar Zamora passed away unexpectedly from Mesothelioma. As often is the case, it sometimes takes death to put life into perspective. My Tio Chele spent each of his 46 years on Earth like it was his last. He had many adventures and lived fearlessly until his death, but his life wasn’t without sacrifice. His career was a demanding one, and his exposure to asbestos occurred on the job. I, have been working full-time as an education director for four years, and while I find it a rewarding career for many reasons, I didn’t want to give my life over to fulfill the dreams of another while neglecting my own. So welcome to my dream. It’s a cornucopia of politics, body positivity, eco-conscious fashion, and ultimately a personal journey through which I hope to connect with and inspire anyone and everyone who will have me. We do hope you’ll stay a while. Click on any of the following post titles to open the original post via the magic of hyperlinks! Now, without further ado, let’s get on with the show.

1. Lemonade:

Our very first shoot. So young, so carefree. So hot, so dreadful. Learn from our mistakes, and find yourself some shade for photos or risk the ferocity of our mighty sun. Check out the photo-set featuring a Beyonce inspired tee from Phat Girl Fresh. The suede FU/CK shoes? Size 10 and available for purchase.

2. Pueblito Viejo:

Before this shoot I dolled up and then nearly fucked up my makeup from crying big fat tears. Why? Because I was self-conscious about going out in public where passers-by could see me being photographed. A photo from this shoot was eventually published in LoveUMag’s debut issue, and to think I almost didn’t have the guts.

3. Lady O:

Click here to meet our first feature model and resident pin-up girl Ms. Ophelia Somers. She was decked out entirely in thrift finds from the MyXXFLY inventory. The items are no longer available for purchase, but stay stuned for our thrift shop which is currently under construction.

4. Florida Power and Light:

One of my favorite shoots to date! The post is essentially a well-researched frustrated rant directed at the charlatans fucking with our water-supply and health in South Florida. Political leanings? At this point, painfully obvious. Check this one out if your heart bleeds like mine does.

5. Linda:

A feature post with my comadre Linda. Check this one out for your dose of sass and ass. This roll? A dream to edit. Seriously, modeling game on a whole other level. Bonus: Linda’s adorable baby Hendrix Ivy makes a cameo.

6. Do Not Wear:

Check out this post if you’re inspired to step out of your sartorial comfort zone. Bonus: a story of derailed plans and my Visible Belly Line (VBL) is in full effect.

7. Southpoint Park:

This post has your double-dose of curvaciousness. We met up with Ophelia on Miami Beach at the ass-crack of dawn for this one. The outfits were both styled from the MyXXFLY inventory and the purple lightning top that I’m wearing is still available for purchase.

8. Labels and Paradise:

A story of being rained out of your shooting spot in the midst of Miami Summer. Click through for my take on eclecticism, labels, and daring to be yourself.

9. Redlands Flea Market:

A personal guide to my favorite Flea Market in the city. If you’ll be finding yourself in Homestead on any given weekend, and live for the thrill of the thrift hunt peruse this bad boy.

10. Time Warp:

A tale of young love in grunge gear featuring my brother Patrick and his fiancé Cindy. Pearl Jam tee is still available for purchase.

11. Sin City:

Our most experimental shoot to date. Our photographer Frank worked his photoshop magic to bring the full Sin City aesthetic. The short story inspired by this shoot will soon be published, stay tuned for updates!

12. Nicas in Miami:

Click here for the true story of a young Nica navigating her way through Dade County in some fresh kicks and dark lips. Featuring El Nicamericano tee.

13. Rafa:

Meet our fitness and book-obsessed friend Rafa. He’s kind, handsome, and single. DC Comic tee still available for purchase.

14. Harley Quinn:

I play dress up and channel my inner Harleen Quinzel to tackle the topic of domestic violence and bad romances.

15. The Burbs:

Do you live in the suburbs? Ever wonder how our puny human brains are affected by all the lack of greenery and constant pavement? Check out this post on Urban Sprawl.

16. Felix:

Join us in Hialeah and get your dose of Dominican Papi with our feature on great friend and single dad Felix.

17. La Gordita:

A fat girl manifesto. Click this one for the story of my journey toward loving my fat body. From insecurities and disordered eating to escaping the hold of doubt and fear.

18. Victor:

Resident film-maker, creator, and all around artist Victor takes us to his favorite writing spot in the Magic City. Check out this post for comics, movies, writing and The Brackets.

19. Have Less and Live More:

For anyone who has ever dealt with a hoarder. My personal take on minimalism and why in the words of Tyler Durden “the things you own end up owning you”.

20. La Roiz:

Here we feature the trajectory of Nica-American reporter Jessica Roiz. Check out this post if you’re having one of those days when you need a reason to believe in the American Dream.
